New fine and replacement rules as of September 1, 2017

In VIA Libraries, we introduce new fine and replacement rules as of September 1, 2017. To you as a borrower this means that you will experience new charges for exceeding delivery deadlines of materials. Furthermore, the process of sending reminders, overdue notices, replacement claims and reminders to pay replacement will change.

The main change is that fines are now calculated per borrowed item. This means, that if you exceed the loan period by 8-30 days for a loan of 6 books, there will be a fee of 6X10 DKK = 60 DKK.

Materials borrowed between June 14, 2017 – August 31, 2017 have a safe-conduct period which means that VIA Libraries will not issue any fines before the new regulations come into effect on September 1, 2017.

The new fine charges are as follows:

As of September 1, 2017 VIA Libraries have adopted the following fine and replacement charges based on the library law on public library fees:

*If the item is not delivered after 31 days the borrower will be charged a replacement consisting of the item's purchase price + handling costs of 35 DKK per forwarded bill.

However, employees at VIA University College do not pay handling costs

If the borrower delivers the item after 31 days or more, the replacement claim will be canceled and the borrower will only be liable for the fine of 25 DKK per item + handling costs of 35 DKK.
